How To Apply

Want to be an Exchange Student
Students are selected on the basis of their initial application and personal interview.

All applicants and their parents are interviewed by their local district club.
Their local district club then sponsor successful applicants to the district committee.
The District Committee then forward to the student the relevant information necessary to complete the full application online.  This full application provides the following details :

  • Personal particulars and background
  • General information relating to the applicant
  • Applicant's school activities
  • Principal's report
  • Medical and dental reports
  • Endorsement of sponsoring Rotary Club and District
  • Guarantee form signed by applicant and parents
  • Parental/guardian release form

You need to get in touch with your local Rotary Club (District 9600 Clubs) or the District YEP Committee Chairman.
Important dates to remember
Timeline:

February:   Local Clubs process applications, assess applicants, endorse the applicants and sponsor the applicant.
April:           Rotary send to the Youth Exchange Chair, letter of recommendation.
May:             District selection interviews are held for applicants
July:            Succeful applicants are notified
August:      1st Orientation Camp (Compulsory)
December:2nd Orientation Camp (Compaulsory)
January:      Departure
January : next year arrival
February: Next year Debriefing and Graduation (Compaulsory)

Rotary Youth Exchange provides an opportunity of a lifetime for young Australians currently studying Year 9 to 12 to study abroad for the following year.
They’ll spend up to 12 months living and studying in a foreign country, learning a lot about themselves and the culture of their adopted host families.
It’s an amazing, life-changing experience you can give your kids that they will never regret.
